Walls Between Us

You sat me down to talk to me, to tell you how you felt,
You pleaded from your heart and soul, your love for me
is real,
You said it over and over, to try to make it clear,
But something stood between us to make it so I
could not hear!
A person? An invisible shield? A wall made of metal
or brick?
The thought of something separating us began to make you
sick!
You hit that wall with all your might, with all your love
and care,
But there was not a simple break, not a simple scratch
or tear,
Suddenly you realized nothing more were you able to do,
The only one with the power to crush this wall is nobody
else except me.
When the wall has crumpled to the ground we will
both be
happy once more,
And then things can return again to the way they
were before.
